Professor Rok Ajulu

Rok Ajulu is a senior partner at Dajo Associates and is a Professor of Political Economy with particular interest in the State and Society in Emerging Markets; Political Economy  of Africa and International Political Economy. Professor Ajulu holds a DPhil from Sussex University. He has taught at a number of universities in Africa and abroad, and until quite recently was a research professor at the University of South Africa.

He has written extensively on issues of political economy of Africa and on International Political Economy. He is the author of a number of book chapters and numerous articles in internationally refereed journals. Most recently co-edited the following volumes: Globalization and Emerging Trends in African States' Foreign Policy Making; The Remaking of a region: The Revival of the East African Community; Two Countries One Dream: The Challenges of Democratic Consolidation in Kenya and South Africa; and A Region in Transition: Towards a New Integration Agenda in East Africa. Professor Ajulu was until recently a contributing editor of the Review of African Political Economy, and Associate Editor of Africa World Review, and a member of International Advisory Board of Lesotho Social Science Review.

Rok has served on the South African Presidential Review Group where he contributed towards a review of South Africa approach to multilateral institution in a paper titled Governing the Global Market? South Africa’s Engagement with Multilateral Institutions of Global Governance,Tactical Options, Strategies and Prospects. In 2003, he also served on the External Advisory Panel for the preparation of UNDP South Africa Human Development Report, 2003. He was also a participant in the UN Foundations’ sponsored, The Future of Development Aid: towards the Post-Monterrey Regime: Financing for Development. In 2005, he served on the external panel of Federal Trust for Education and Research, London, and Institute for Global Dialogue, South Africa on Rethinking Institutional Effectiveness in Sub-Saharan Africa and in 1997, he was a member of Eskom Corporate Strategy (1997) advisory team.

Professor Ajulu is the chairman of Dajo Group, an investment arm with interests in Mining, Real Estate and IT and was on the board of Institute for Global Dialogue from 2002 – 2010.
